The Jasper SkyTram provides mountaintop experiences unlike any other other attraction in Canada.
Ride to an elevation of 2,263 metres (7,425 feet) for easy access to a boardwalk and high-alpine trail network. Hike the Summit Trail to the peak of Whistlers Mountain (2,463 metres/8,081 feet) for 360° mountain views — including the opportunity to spot Mount Robson, the highest mountain in the Canadian Rockies.
Seasonal experiences bring even more fun to the mountaintop. Book between March and May (conditions permitting) for Summit trail Snowshoeing adventures. In the summer, you'll have the chance to spot thousands of blooming wildflowers on Whistlers Mountain. Or, plan a visit on select fall weekends for a stargazing sessions at the Upper Station, presented in partnership with the Jasper Planetarium.
Elevate your time in Jasper National Park — an integral part of the UNESCO Canadian Rockies World Heritage Site — with a Jasper SkyTram adventure.
There is a Jasper SkyTram cabin departing both the Upper Station and Lower Station every nine minutes.
The Jasper SkyTram’s Upper Station sits at an elevation of 2,263 metres (7,425 feet). The Lower Station is located at an elevation of 1,315 metres (4,314 feet).
From the Upper Station, you may choose to hike the 1.4-kilometre hike to Whistlers Mountain’s summit, reaching a top elevation of 2,463 metres (8,081 feet).
Trips up the mountain work the same way as airplane flights. When you purchase your Jasper SkyTram ticket online, you will select your Flight Times, including a Flight Up (to the Upper Station) and a Return Flight (back to the Lower Station).
Flight Times are also bookable on-site, though may be subject to availability.
When you purchase tickets, you will choose a Return Flight to avoid crowding at both stations. These Return Flights may be modified at the Upper Station if availability allows.
We recommend budgeting anywhere from one hour to three-and-a-half hours for your visit depending on what you hope to see and do at the top. Visit our Tickets & Prices page to see our breakdown of typical experience times.
The last Flight Up leaves the Lower Station 1.5 hours before closing. Last Return Flight leaves the Upper Station 10 minutes before closing. For example: If the Jasper SkyTram opening hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the last Flight Up is at 4:30 p.m. and the last Return Flight is at 5:50 p.m.
Each Jasper SkyTram cabin is staffed with a trained operator who provides information on the unique geology, cultural heritage, flora and fauna of the area to help visitors gain an appreciation for the unique mountain landscape. Visitors are welcome to ask questions about the area or anything they see on the journey up the mountain.
Yes, we offer two dining outlets at the Jasper SkyTram:
The Basecamp Café, located in the Lower Station, serves coffees, teas, grilled sandwiches, snacks and ice cream cones. NOTE: The Basecamp Café operates from mid-summer onwards.
The Summit Café, located on the second floor of the Upper Station, serves comfort food favourites, coffees, teas, cocktails, beers and desserts.
The Jasper SkyTram has a large parking lot, with designated parking stalls for tour buses and RVs.
We recommend making a reservation online, especially during peak season. Day-of tickets, however, are often available at the Lower Station.
Advance bookings are highly recommended for large groups to ensure availability. Please fill out the inquiry form on our Groups page, email our team at [email protected] or call us at 1.800.661.1750 to learn more. Special rates are available for groups of 15 guests or more!
We normally operate with 20 to 24 people per tram car to make sure each guest is comfortable.
Compared to the Jasper townsite, which sits at much lower elevation, the temperature is 12°C cooler on average at the Jasper SkyTram Upper Station and 2°C cooler at the Lower Station.
We recommend that visitors bring extra clothing layers to keep warm/cool in all temperatures. Begin with a wicking layer, then a warmth layer and finally a waterproof/windproof layer. A warm hat and gloves or mittens are also recommended during spring and fall.
Weather changes in the mountains are often unpredictable and quick.
Jasper’s high alpine is a lively place! We regularly see hoary marmots, white-tailed ptarmigans, ground squirrels, pikas and sometimes bighorn sheep.
For short periods of the summer, you may also see thousands of blooming alpine flowers near the Upper Station.
The Jasper SkyTram team believes in green tourism and is committed to delivering on Pursuit’s Promise to Place. This includes minimalizing impact on the mountain, building environmental awareness and fostering a spirit of respect for our surroundings in team members and guests.
Each Jasper SkyTram cabin is staffed with a trained operator who provides information on the unique geology, cultural heritage, flora and fauna of the area to help visitors gain an appreciation for the unique landscape.
We ask that guests help protect the beauty of Jasper National Park by staying on designated trails and refrain from removing any rocks or vegetation from the area during their visit. If animals are spotted, please keep your distance for the safety of both you and the animal. Do not feed any animals.

Whistlers Mountain’s name originates from its hoary marmot population, whose distinctive high-pitched “whistle” warning call echoes through the Canadian Rockies. These alpine ground squirrels are commonly spotted from June through August on the mountain, before they return to their burrows for long hibernation periods during the cooler months.
You may also see Whistlers Mountain referred to as The Whistlers, Whistlers Summit and Whistlers Peak.
