Banff is known for locally inspired Canadian cuisine with a mountain twist. Think Alberta beef, game meats, fresh trout, and creative dishes using regional ingredients. But what surprises most visitors? The incredible variety — from mountaintop fine dining to casual comfort food with wild views.
Sometimes people dress up for dinner in Banff, but there’s no need to overdo it. Most Banff restaurants strike a balance between mountain casual and cozy chic - so you’ll fit in whether you’re wearing jeans or dressing up a bit. Let the view do the impressing.
Absolutely, many of Banff's restaurants are kid-friendly (including all of ours). many offer kids’ menus, high chairs, and a relaxed vibe that works for families. Whether you're refueling after a hike or enjoying dinner with a view, you’ll find plenty of spots where little explorers are welcome. And hey, some even come with their own distractions - like gondola rides or lakeside trails.
The food and atmosphere is upscale; however, you are in the mountains! Dress to impress meets mountain casual. The top of Sulphur Mountain can get cold and windy, remember to bring a good jacket when visiting us.
Sky Bistro is located at the top of Sulphur Mountain, on level 3 of the Banff Gondola’s summit building. To reach the restaurant, you’ll need to purchase a ticket for the Banff Gondola. If you’ve booked our Sky Experience package during the winter, the gondola ride is included.
